Character Commission - Gila

A Vtuber model and VRChat model for @Chouxbunn on twitter of their old sona Puff! They rebranded just before I finished the model, unfortunately. This model is also equipt with support for Iphone ARKit face tracking, despite that not being apparent from the turnaround! I would love to make more models with face tracking support, as well as make my own with it for use in animations down the line. Maybe maybe.

A Vtuber model for a client over discord, Working on this model was nice but it had a lot of iterations and a lot of back and forth on the design. It dragged on to being a 4 week model when it should have been 2, as the client would request changes and then request additional changes or go back on them.

Character Commission - Wolveon

Another model in the series of anthropormorphic Resident Evil renditions of character, Wolveon! His character is based on Leon, as the name suggests. For this one I did a bit more of a complicated animation rig, and I also did a quick animation test.

Artfight Attack - Macey!

Unfortunately my only good artfight attack this year, for Fizlock, of their character Macey. It was definitely my first time making a character so... full figured... I'm a bit peeved - this was my first post to ever get more than 1k likes or impressions on twitter, after years of posts struggling to reach 10. I had always hoped in my head that big boobs=famous was just me being bitter... but results spoke for themselves.

A follow up commission from the same person who commissioned for the model of Moushley - this one being a form of the cultists from RE4, but with cheese stained robes - I also made a second form with bladed tentacles. It was a very interesting character design.

Game Character - Beau!

A game character for a game jam that me and my bestie Iris(check out her site!! Click here.) named Beau! Shes a clumsy little explorer, and the idea of the game was that it was going to be a puzzle game where basically every puzzle would have unintended side effects, but I ran out of time to assemble levels and put together the puzzle systems. Iris did all of the visual assets except for Beaus model, and the character animations, and I did the code. I may work on this game more in the future... but whos to say...

A little kitty cat for a jam me and my bestie Iris worked on - the Godot Wild and Proud Jam, because it was only 3 days long, though, I wasn't able to get any other assets done on time because I was busy with commissions, so ultimately it didn't get anywhere. Because the jam was pride-month focused, we thought it would be really cute to make a garfield-vibed sort of game where you play as two lesbian cats, trying to help their sort of hopeless romantic owner get ready for a date - but a two player 3d platformer was more than a little ambitious for a 3 day jam, unfortunatley.

A model commissioned by my ex, of their character Petal. I experimented with this model, as petals eyes actually are physical round eyes - before now I've used a method similar to IRL fursuits and VRchat avatars, where the "eyes" are empty sockets with floating pupils inside them - it took a lot to align the eyes properly, so needs a bit more work.

A model commission for someone on VGen, of their Jojo's Bizzare Aventure inspired character - I liked the design! I think this model was good, and its one of the better human characters I've made, the lighting of the final turnaround and the awkward pose kind of let them down.

Game Character - Gleeby!

This was going to be the equivelent of Chaos in sonic, for my now-defunkt game Pizza Galaxy - One day I would love to pick this game back up and dust it off, I probably would have to redo all of it but I love the characters and vibes so much. The intention was that there would be a Gleeby Garden in a hub area, where you could raise them like little tomogatchis (again, like the Chao garden from Sonic Adventure).

A comm for a client on toyhouse!! It was my first time making a feral type of character, as in to say a character that has 4 legs instead of 2. It was certainly a complex model, and one I'm proud of, but I feel I could have polished the pose for the turnaround a bit more.

VTuber Commission - Lewn

This was a VTuber commission for @lewn_atic for her VTuber character! She wanted a lower poly and more optimized version of the character that could be used for VRChat - this is one of my biggest models to date in terms of complexity - both in terms of rigging for her body, but also for the texture work. My style normally consists of smooth gradients, so it was new for me to be making textures and attempting to do something more detailed. I think her model looks heaps better when in a brighter environment - the vrchat screenshot is a bit dark so you can see the contours of the face a lot better and because I haven't gotten around to learning to set custom normals for faces, it doesnt quite look right for an anime styled character.

Fursona Redesign/VTuber

I really didn't like what I'd done for my past redesign - so I decided to make another! I also needed a vtuber for youtube videos, so that I could make devlogs advertising the game I've been working on. You might notice that I changed the pattern on the shirt - I just felt like a more saturated and colourful hawaiian shirt fit a lot better than the memphis pattern I had on it before - Obviously I absolutely love that design aesthetic but it didnt feel as fun.

A fun little gremlin character - I had a good time modelling him and rigging him up, it was my first time doing a scalie as opposed to a furry - or well by the looks of it Spiral Knights' gremlins are a mix between a koblod and furry creature, like a lizard with hair... Either way, it was fun.

A Mage character commissioned by @CriticalErrorz on twitter for one of his fantasy mage characters - I'm kind of peeved about how the shading made it look - I've added an unshaded screenshot if that gives an idea of how it wouldve looked. Her animation was a bit stiff as well - Definitely still need way more practice doing humans!

This was a commission for TekkaGuyaa over VGen - The design was super simple but I really loved how expressive it was! It was a bit interesting trying to translate such a flat design to a 3d model.

A little animation that I made of my character making some eggs. I made this to test some lighting, as well as fake volumetrics with the window, which was just a bit of texture / shader work. Also tested out some animation with a bit of wiggle and more realistic movement.

Baseplate Commission

Commission for a client on VGen. This is probably one of the last baseplate sort of models I'll do (at least digital... I still want to get in to doing commission for physical clay models), because I intend to move on to only doing proper scenes, where I can utilize the lighting, camera angles and the cameras visibility. When you make a baseplate it has to look okay from every angle, but a static render or animation can look great from 1 camera angle.

A model and render based off of this tweet. I thought he looked like a noir detective or something along those lines. I really like how the NPBR shading turned out, being able to combine that sort of shading with the vertex colouring that I use for models meant I can make models that have soft gradients while also having hard cel shading.

To be honest, I really didn't know anything about the character, I just like the art they do and I felt like making hairstyles and skin tones that I haven't done before, considering I only recently moved on to doing more humans.

Piper the Detective (redesign)

A redesign for Piper! She's a human now! While I have a lot more practice making anthro characters, I felt like for the games I wanted to make with her an anthro design wouldn't work as well. I intend on having a lot of her stories focus around the supernatural, things like cryptids, ghosts, aliens - and all of those things would seem a bit less interesting if everyone was a talking animal person! I didn't see a need to pose / render this one, it would be redundant. I also fixed up her porportions, I don't know how but her calves were way longer than they should've been, it made her animations look really bizzare and awkward. I toned down some other areas, her hips and such are a lot more realistic (to be honest, I only made them larger on the original design because I thought they'd get more traction on twitter that way).

A redesign for my sona character! I think the last design was a bit of a flop, though that was also partially because my modelling skills have improved since then / I've departed from the idea of using subdivisions on models, its always looked really ugly and I didnt like it. This time around the character design is more feminine, the colours are more red/purple than orange, also matching with my sites colours. The pins on the apron represent the softwares I use, and (some) interests (theres a sonic one and an alien one, though the image is too shrunken down to see). I've never been big on the concept of fursonas/personas, but I do really appreciate it as a starting point to practice character design and as someone whos trying to make an online 'brand' its good to have a mascot of sorts. Unfortunately being an artist and taking commissions on the internet means you have to brand yourself so people recognize you better, and because its easier to look at.

When I saw the toyhouse listing for this character I knew her design would go really well for a detective game, so I just had to make a model. I've always wanted to make a point and click adventure game, where you can focus more on the narrative and themes than a normal game. The intent with her is to make a short demo or game jam project to test the waters a bit and see if I want to develop it further.

Celeste Model Refresher

I made this model because a friend posted their work in progress sketch of a drawing they were doing of her, and I thought she had a really cool design and I wanted to make that in 3d. Her arms arent showing, so that also made it really easy to model because I didnt even need to rig her. It was a bit of a lazier model but I just wanted to make a quick refresher that looked nice.

Toyhouse Raffle Prize

This one was a prize for a toyhouse raffle! It was my first time running a raffle, I did it to get some extra eyes on my twitter account, but I dont think it makes much sense doing something like that on a site like toyhouse, even though raffles do get a lot of attention. This is also the model where I started adding gradient backgrounds to the gifs so that they pop a bit more on the screen.

The first model for the game I'm working on! Their name is Tully and they're a lil adventuring rabbit on a quest to... we'll figure that out. Considering I had to work on the expressions for them as they're a main character, I just made them into a VTuber as well that I'll be using for streaming and videos.

Commission for isra on Toyhouse of their two OCs! I feel like the scene should've been smaller so you could see them better, but I think its a an improvement compared to my usual baseplate designs (?). This one took a lil longer than I wouldve hoped but with Christmas around the corner I've been busy making gifts! I did enjoy the process of making humans instead of anthros, but I much prefer making anthro characters.

I added some features using custom shaders and buttons in the VSeeFace package, so the character can 'power up' and start glowing.

Rory!!! He's one of my favourite OCs, this was made for a videogame which I work on sporadically. Its a 3d platformer where you clean up rubbish on a beach but development has been slow so theres a chance I might move on to simpler games in the meanwhile. I also intend on redoing his model to be easier to animate properly.

A render I did of my old sona on a little beachy island, this was loosley based on Sonic's little beach chair and umbrella from the 1996 Sonic OVA. The hair was fully rigged and posable, so if I had decided I wanted to put in the time animating it blowing in the wind it wouldve been able to.

Pwnisher 3d Challenge - Rivet

This was a character I briefly got passionate about creating a world / series for, but lost interest in. Her name was Rivet, and the ideas are still in my head, so I'd like to go back and re-design her someday, but this model didnt get across what I wanted for her. I still wasnt fully out of my phase of trying to use subdivision surface modelling, which can remove a lot of the sharp corners that make designs fun.

This is the model where I started using the current style and methods that I use now, such as gradient shading and using geometry for sharp details. This was a short lived game project which I never got around to really making because of artfight, but I really want to pick up again in the future. It was an interesting concept that was going to be similar to the game Ico.

This was for another game, which I was going to make before the one mentioned previously. I got as far as creating many of the underlying mechanics, but because I decided to use a lot of custom editor tools to make things customisable it would crash my PC when I tried to run it sometimes.

We werent given much direction, and I'd planned to do more for it but doing so much unpaid work for a book I lost interest in wasn't something I was interested in.

This was one of my first attempts at creating a character with 'expressive' eyes and facial expressions. This was one of my first OCs, who I still intend on using for a game project, but they'll need heavy redesigns. Sometimes I'll wake up in a cold sweat remembering that I made this, it still haunts me but at least I've come further since.

My very very first model

I found this a few days ago (as of 20/01/2024) of one of my first models from 2020. I dont have any details of when in 2020, but i'd posted it on discord 70 days after I'd started learning modelling to compare my progress with another work in progress model, and that was december 8th, so that means I've been modelling since 29/09/2020!! Wow... I thought I'd only started recently relatively, in 2022 or something? Very surreal, everything kinda becomes a blur.
